The Otovent® device is a medically proven, non-invasive and drug free treatment method used to combat glue ear and help avoid surgery. In fact, this method has been recommended by ENT specialists for the last 20 years.
Otovent should equalize the pressure and free up the Eustachian tube, allowing the fluid to drain away from the middle ear, thus alleviating the symptoms.
It is recommended that Otovent should be used 2-3 times each day until all excess fluid has been drained away.
Natural Latex Balloons
The balloons enclosed in the pack are made of natural latex and are pressure-tested. They provide the correct pressure for successful treatment.
Who can use Otovent®?
Adults and children from 3 years of age can be treated with Otovent®. Children can use Otovent at home under parental supervision. It is painless, harmless and takes only a matter of seconds to perform.
It is recommended that Otovent be demonstrated by the parent to the child with a professional present. Then the child should be encouraged to inflate the balloon with the professional’s or parent’s assistance. This demonstration in-practice should reduce errors in using Otovent, but will also give the patient confidence in performing the inflation his or her self.
Frequency of Use
Otovent is best used in the morning, midday or after school and in the evening – if three times a day is not possible it should at least be used in the morning and evening.
The normal duration of treatment is 2-3 weeks, after which your doctor will make a decision on whether the treatment continues.
The Otovent pack is intended for 2-3 weeks treatment. Each balloon may be used for 3-4 days.
